Product Highlights
Rama Tulsi is the classic tulsi found in many homes and temples, with soft green leaves and a fresh aroma. Shyama Tulsi, also called Krishna tulsi, has deeper purple-green leaves and dark flower spikes that look beautiful in a pot. Both are hardy, fragrant plants that grow well in warm weather and need only basic care. Growing them together lets you compare the two types and build a lovely tulsi corner at home. The kraft pouch is easy to store and reseal, so you can sow in batches. The combo also works as a gift for housewarmings, festivals like Tulsi Vivah and Diwali, and for anyone starting a home garden.
How to Grow
- Sowing time: Warm months are best. In most parts of India, sow from February to September
- Container: Use a pot or grow bag at least 10 to 12 inches wide with drainage holes
- Soil: Loose, well-draining potting mix with compost
- Sowing: Scatter the seeds on moist soil and cover with a very thin layer of soil, about 0.5 cm. The seeds are tiny, so do not bury them deep
- Germination: Usually 7 to 14 days in warm conditions (around 20 to 30°C)
- Light: 5 to 6 hours of direct sunlight a day
- Watering: Keep the soil lightly moist, and avoid waterlogging
- Care: Pinch the tips once the plant is about 6 inches tall to get a bushier plant. Remove flower spikes if you want more leaf growth
