How to Sow Seeds

  • Soak the seeds in water for one hour and sow the seeds directly in the ground covering them with soil.
  • For growing beetroots in containers, choose a large pot with drainage holes and fill it with potting mix and cocopeat. Then sow the one or two seeds 0.5 inch deep in the soil

Seed Care

  • Water the seeds every day so the soil remains moist
  • Maintain a 3 inches distance between two adjacent seeds to provide adequate room for growth

How to Care for Beetroot

Sunlight: Choose a spot where beetroot receives 6-8 hours of good sunlight. Terrace and balcony are ideal locations if you are growing beetroot in pots.

Watering: Provide regularly watering to beetroot plants so the soil stays moist.

Soil: Beetroot thrives well in fertile soils with good drainage and rich organic matter.

Fertilizer: Use a balanced liquid fertilizer to encourage growth in the beetroot plants. You can also use cow manure in the soil to provide extra nutrients.

Pests and Diseases: Beetroot plants can suffer from leaf spot and root knot, so look for early signs of infections and use the right fungicide to treat them. You can also use neem oil to prevent diseases.

Harvesting: Chukandars are ready to harvest after 60-90 days of sowing the seeds. Harvest young beets if you want them to be sweet and juicy.
