How to Care for Turnips

Sunlight: Grow turnips in a spot where they can get 6-8 hours of sunlight. They can also thrive in partial sun, but it will affect their growth.

Watering: Water the turnips plants regularly to keep the soil evenly moist. Avoid overwatering as they can’t tolerate standing water for long time.

Soil: Turnips can grow in a wide range of soils, but do best in fertile loam soil with good drainage and organic matter.

Fertilizer: Use cow manure to provide extra nourishment and growth that will result in better yields.

Pests and Diseases: Aphids, flea beetles, and powdery mildew can impact the growth of shalajam plants, so it is better to look for early signs of infections and treat them using the right pesticide or fungicide.

Harvesting: Turnips are ready to harvest after 45-60 days of sowing the seeds. You can easily store them in refrigerators.
