How to Sow Seeds

  • If you have a garden, sow the seeds directly in the ground and cover them with soil.
  • For growing broccoli in containers, take a pot, fill it with potting mix, cocopeat and sow the one seed 0.5 inch deep in it.

Soil: Broccoli plants can grow in a wide variety of soils, but gives the best yield in fertile, sandy loam soil.

Fertilizer: Fertilize the broccoli plants every month with a mineral fertilizer that is equally rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

Pests and Diseases: Aphids and cutworms can pose a threat to the growth of broccoli. So look for early signs of infections and spray soap water to get rid of them quickly.

Harvesting: Broccolis are ready to harvest after 90-110 days of sowing the seeds. You identify fully grown broccolis with their firm and tight head.
